Everything But The Girl

Miu Miu Spring/Summer 2011

Boxy jackets with stylised peacock feathers and silk dresses with white swan prints. It is Miu Miu. It is complex and willing to take risks. It is crazy in a good way. Miuccia Prada is the best womenswear designer. Full stop.

Career Woman

Victoria Stone Graduate collection

Asymmetry and disproportion. The power suit has undergone a mental change. Dissolving in certain areas while heightening in others. Confused and inappropriate in a strinking manner.

Sushi Suits

Calvin Klein Fall/Winter 2010

Matching jackets and trousers that fluorescent like nori sheets. This season, Italo Zucchelli adds a hint of tacky shine to the minimalist, classic and sartorial. And when it comes to the right dosage of risk-taking I am sold.

Time Continuum

Yves Saint Laurent Spring/Summer 2008

As a continuous principle, my love for collections grows in retrospect. In my eyes, Spring/Summer 2008 was a notably strong season. Stefano Pilati's vision is of timeless relevance and manifest in today's evolution in menswear. An aesthetic seemingly appreciated and consequently continued by Lucas Ossendrijver for Lanvin.

Metal

Photos Helmut Lang Fall/Winter 2004, As Four Spring/Summer 2004, Roberto Cavalli Fall/Winter 2004

Back in the year 2004. One approach. Three interpretations. Each option has its advantages and disadvantages. Personally, I can't decide which look would suit me best. It all depends on the occasion.

Emergency

Prada Spring/Summer 2010

Nothing is more important right now than Prada, haha. Of course we will have to wait for Jil Sander for a final judgement. But I like the transparency, the raw edges and the glossy surfaces.

High Gloss

Jói Kjartans & Moschino Fall/Winter 2001

Moschino has always been far ahead of its time. Maybe a little bit too far ahead. One might confuse their 2001 menswear collection with the product range of next corner's sex shop, but this is high fashion. And Horst loves it.

Fall/Winter 2005

Inspired by Mahret, I felt the urgent need to dive into the Marios Schwab universe to find the most beautiful pearls. Bondage, geometry, draping, metal, fluorescent shine. Super constructed feminity.

Concentration Deficit

The Local Firm Spring/Summer 2010

Loose knit, high gloss pants and jackets, some strap bondage and as a TLF tradition: urban tribe symbolism. Nothing new, nothing bad. But I am missing a little bit of edge.

Impregnation

Neil Barrett Spring/Summer 2010

I have a Miuccia Prada meets Raf Simons moment. Very reminiscent of their respective Fall/Winter 09 collections translated into Spring/Summer. The question is: Is this good or bad?
